Fuel Tank Safety Course Syllabus

According to

                      • AMC to Part-M: Appendix XII to AMC M.A.706(f) and AMC1 M.B.102(c)

                      • AMC to Part-145: Appendix IV to AMC to 145.A.30(e) and 145.B.10(3)

                      • AMC to Section 1 of Appendix III to Part-66 “Aircraft Type Training and Examination Standard, On-the-Job Training” 

the course for covering initial training of Fuel Tank Safety in phase 1 and 2 should cover the following topics:

  1. The theoretical background behind the risk of fuel tank safety
  2. The major accidents related to fuel tank systems, the accident investigations and their conclusions
  3. ignition prevention program initiatives and goals, to identify unsafe conditions and to correct them, to systematically improve fuel tank maintenance
  4. Explain briefly the concepts that are being used: modifications, airworthiness limitations items and CDCCL
  5. Where relevant information can be found and how to use and interpret this information in the various instructions for continuing airworthiness
  6. Fuel Tank Safety during maintenance
  7. Flammability reduction systems when installed
  8. Recording maintenance actions, recording measures and results of inspections

Additionally, a regular 2-year updating procedure for the relevant knowledge of the above contents is necessary. The reference for such procedure is the approved Maintenance Organisation MOE.
